Degree Offered: M.A.- Clinical Psychology, Psy.D. - Clinical Psychology Format: Campus Program Description: The Clinical Practices in Psychology program is a full-time program, with a two-year sequence of course work and practicum experiences, leading to the Master of Arts. It is designed to educate generalists in Clinical Psychology at the master's level who subsequently plan to practice as master's level clinicians or continue their education at the doctoral level. The program offers specialty training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The primary mission of the Doctoral program in Clinical Psychology is to prepare students to become competent, self-aware and compassionate clinical psychologists who are able to function effectively in multiple roles. A commitment to diversity in both the faculty and student body, as well as strong student involvement in program management and curriculum feedback, are key to the growth and development of our program. The program also offers a Child/Adolescent Proficiency Track and a Women's Mentoring and Research Project. The Psy.D. program consists of three years of full-time study, plus an internship and a dissertation. Full-time study includes Fall, Spring and six-week Summer terms. The Psy.D. program may only be completed on a full-time basis. Accreditation: The University of Hartford is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) - American Psychological Association (APA) Eligibility Requirements: The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited collegiate institution and should have achieved at least a B average in undergraduate courses. Masters- An undergraduate concentration in psychology, including courses in introductory psychology, abnormal psychology, statistics, research methods, and history and systems in psychology, is desirable. Doctorate - The undergraduate degree must include courses in statistics, research methods, and tests and developmental psychology, physiological psychology, cognitive psychology, abnormal psychology, and personality psychology. In addition, the applicant is required submit scores for the General GRE (Graduate Record Exam) and the Psychology Subject GRE exam. International Student Requirements: International transcripts must be evaluated by WES to assess U.S. equivalency, for more information visit www.wes.org. International applicants need to submit their TOEFL official scores. Min score: 550 paper-based; 79-80 iBT. IELTS is also accepted; min score 6.5. A certified Guarantor’s Statement of financial support is also required.
